The air was charged with anticipation as CMU students eagerly awaited the start of the much-anticipated Talk Show titled “The First Lady: City Mayor of Malabon,” on March 29, 2023. To highlight the end of the Women’s Month Celebration, the Office of Student Affairs and Services and the student organizers had gone to great lengths to ensure that this would be a memorable experience for all attendees.
As Mayor Jeannie Sandoval and Councilor Nadja Vicencio took the stage, hosts Mr. Christopher Cinco and Ms. Allaiza Alamo from College of Teacher Education started to ask questions to enliven the event. Throughout the conversation, Mayor Sandoval and Councilor Vicencio provided valuable insights into the leadership and governance of the city of Malabon. They shared stories of the challenges they had faced as public servants and how they had overcome them with determination and hard work.
The students were particularly struck by the resilience of these women and how they had managed to achieve such great success in the face of adversity. Mayor Sandoval and Councilor Vicencio were role models for all, and their stories inspired the audience to reach for their own goals and aspirations.
