The City of Malabon University hosted a Research Awareness and Enhancement Seminar-Workshop at CMU Hall on November 20, 2023. Dr. Bernardo “Aido” N. Sepeda, Executive Director of the National Research Council, Department of Science and Technology, Philippines, served as the keynote speaker.
The seminar, themed “CMU Faculty Research Awareness and Productivity,” highlighted the role of research in fostering sustainability and development in our knowledge-driven community. University President Dr. Glen DV de Leon welcomed participants and expressed his vision for CMU to become a research-based institution, receiving positive feedback from both full-time and part-time faculty as well as selected students.
Distinguished plenary speakers included Dr. Alexander T. Rosete, City Administrator; Dr. Allie V. Agustin, CMU Research Director; and Dr. Cayetano A. Nicolas, Dean of the College of Computer Studies. Dr. Aido presented the Harmonized National Research and Development Agenda (HNRDA 2022–2028), emphasizing collaboration opportunities in Science and Technology Institute research, particularly in the hospitality and tourism fields.
Dr. Rosete highlighted the importance of continuing education and research advancement in academia, while Dr. Nicolas showcased his research on “Modeling of Automatic Plant Watering System using ATMega328 MCU Arduino Microcontroller: Mobile Display Result Application.” Dr. Agustin shared insights from his research on “The Role of Local Universities in Enhancing Creative Industries in the National Capital Region, Philippines,” presented in Bandung, Indonesia, alongside Dr. Rosete.
The seminar concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Ma. Salome B. Aguinaldo, Vice President for Institutional Development and External Affairs, underscoring the significance of collaborative research initiatives.
