Non-government and civic organizations visited the City of Malabon University in a meet and greet meeting with the University President Dr. Glen DV. De Leon and other CMU officials. In the meeting, the organizations expressed their interest in having partnerships with the university and offered all the help they could extend.
The incumbent President of the Philippine Dental Association Malabon/ Navotas Chapter Dr. Sharon Roncal with fellow officers Dr. Lanie Tolentino and Dr. Jasmin Sandel agreed with the Memorandum of Agreement to share expertise through training and seminar with the CMU Community on oral hygiene. Aside from that they are willing to conduct dental missions in the institution. This March 19, 2024, in line with the celebration of University Week, their team will provide free dental check-ups and tooth extraction at Bahay Sandigan and Bahay Pag-asa. This is in collaboration with the CSWD of Malabon.
On the other hand, Soroptimist International Malabon Chapter President Dr. Grace Francisco-Torres informed the group on the mission of the organization which is to empower the CMU women students. The organization provides programs that will give women and girls equal opportunities to succeed and thrive. The international organization has Live Your Dream Awards which provides financial assistance to cover tuition, books, childcare, or other expenses related to the education of the female student.
KASAMA President Mrs. Flery Marcelo briefly orients the group about the organization, and that KASAMA which stands for Katiwasayan para sa mga Mamamayan aims to recognize successful Malabueรฑos in education, business, and other fields. Dr. De Leon testified that he was one of the recipients of the KASAMA award, one for being an honor student, Cum Laude in college, and the other for passing the CPA board examination.
Ms. Lorena Estive, a Soroptomist member shared that she is also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Malabon Achievers Division 3B. Kiwanis Circle K International empowers college students through service to local and global communities which aims to develop leadership skills and develop support system. University of the Philippines Los Baรฑos is a part of the Circle K Club. Future collaboration with the club is in the process.
President De Leon expressed optimism and appreciation for the potential collaboration between the organizations and CMU. He added that the partnership is an opportunity to enhance the institution’s educational offerings, provide resources, and support students in pursuing their goals and aspirations. He was joined by the universityโs Vice Presidents Dr. Ma. Salome B. Aguinaldo, Dr. Willam Enrique, Dr. Porfirio Catolico, University Secretary Dr. Allie Agustin, and Dr. Marissa C. Florentino, Head of Business Development and Linkage Partnership.
