In a significant milestone for the National Capital Region Regional Community Defense Group (NCRRCDG) and the City of Malabon University (CMU), a long-awaited event unfolded with the activation of the CMU-ROTC Unit after three decades of dormancy. Spearheaded by Group Commander COL. Ferdinand Rey G. Ga MNSA (ART) PA and LTC. Henry A. Pang-Ay (INF) PA, 1301st CDC Director, also serving as the CMU ROTC Unit Commandant, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was ceremoniously signed between the NCRRCDG and CMU administrators last April 26, 2024.
The signatories, including Dr. Glen DV. De Leon, CMU President, alongside Dr. Porfirio R. Catolico, NSTP Director, University Secretary Dr. Allie V. Agustin, SSgt Roldan F Fadriquela (Inf) PA, Tactical NCO CMU-ROTC Unit, Ms. Shanen Clave Calinawagan, NSTP Coordinator, and CMU-ROTC Unit Advance Cadet Officers, gathered to affirm their collective commitment to reviving and enhancing the ROTC program at CMU.
The MOU serves as a beacon of partnership, solidifying the mutual dedication of both parties to fortify the ROTC curriculum and experience at CMU. Through collaborative efforts and shared resources, the goal is to empower cadets with comprehensive military training, leadership development, and civic responsibility.
Currently, the CMU-ROTC Unit boasts a robust enrollment of 348 cadets in the Military Science 2nd semester, reflecting the eagerness and enthusiasm of students to engage in this transformative educational experience.
The activation of the CMU-ROTC Unit not only marks a historic moment for the institution but also underscores its commitment to fostering a culture of service, discipline, and patriotism among its student body.
