On March 30, 2023, the City of Malabon University (CMU) welcomed a new era of leadership as Dr. Glen DV. De Leon, CPA, ascended to the prestigious role of University President during the 2nd Regular Board Meeting of the CMU Board of Regents. The Malabon City Council officially concurred on this on April 17, 2023.
Dr. De Leon’s extensive experience and exceptional accomplishments in accountancy and education have prepared him well to take the helm as the eighth president of this esteemed institution.
A leader in accountancy, Dr. De Leon holds fellowships with the Singapore Royal Institute of Accountants. His affiliations include the Philippine Council of Deans and Educators in Business and the National Association of Certified Public Accountants in Education. Beyond these achievements, Dr. De Leon co-founded the Corporate Social Responsibility and Good Governance Educators and Practitioners Association of the Philippines, demonstrating his dedication to ethical business practices.
Dr. De Leon is no stranger to the City of Malabon University, having held various positions, including OIC-University President and Vice President for Academic Affairs. His experience extends beyond CMU as well, with roles such as Local School Board Member, Board of Regents Member, Dean of the College of Business, Management, and Accountancy at De La Salle Araneta University, and visiting professor at the International Graduate School Ph.D./DBA in China. As an associate professor, Dr. De Leon has shared his expertise with DLSAU Graduate & Undergraduate students, Baliuag University Graduate and Undergraduate Studies, and UE Caloocan.
Dr. De Leon’s academic background is equally impressive, boasting a Doctor of Philosophy in Management from De La Salle Araneta University, a Master of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, both from the City of Malabon University.
Moreover, Dr. De Leon has received numerous accolades and awards throughout his distinguished career. Among these are the Gintong Parangal Awardee for 2000, 2001, and 2004, consistent recognition as a Dean’s Lister during his college years, a CHED Scholar, and Outstanding Faculty Member at DLSAU and UE. He was also awarded by the DLSAU Alumni Association as 2023 Outstanding Alumni in Academe. As a Program Chair of the DLSAU BSA Program, he achieved a remarkable 100% CPA Board Examination passing rate for his students. Moreover, he has been honored with multiple Mentorship Excellence and Teaching-Learning Excellence Awards at DLSAU.
In addition to his academic accomplishments, Dr. De Leon has attended and participated in numerous trainings, workshops, and conferences, including the PACU-Franklin Covey Leadership Summit, the Global Professional Advancement conducted by CHED, and the Sixteenth International Conference on Interdisciplinary Social Sciences at Oxford Brookes University. He also attended the 18th International Conference on Environmental, Cultural, Economic, and Social Sustainability at the University of Granada, Granada, Spain where he presented research.
