Earlier today, the City of Malabon University (CMU) participated at the Digital Governance Virtual Judging Ceremony 2021 for LGU’s Best Practices in Information Communication Technology (ICT). CMU qualified in the annual digital governance award.

The Digital Governance Awards (DGA) is an annual search for the best practices in local government units in utilizing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to effectively deliver its public services directly to its constituents and to its business stakeholders.

In 2012, the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP), in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Cyber City Teleservices Philippines Inc. (CCTP) launched the eGOV Awards for LGUs. The first eGOV award was named in honor of the late DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo who helped in initiating its pioneering partnership and in integrating ICT as part of good governance strategies, and for his exemplary work as a local public servant. Robredo, together with the former NICP President Jocelle Batapa-Sigue and CCTP President George Sorio, were the signatories during the signing of the eGOV Awards MOA held in 2012 at Naga City.

The eGOV Awards’ main objectives are as follows: to encourage the effective and efficient utilization of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the delivery of services and in the performance of duties and responsibilities by local government units; to commend, collate and document best practices of LGUs in targeting ICT in their processes to serve as an example and benchmarks to other LGUs; to improve the business ecosystem of the LGUs and motivate the private and business sector to actively participate and/or invest in the growth of the LGUs, and; to promote transparency and accountability in local governance.

The eGOV Awards was created to let the LGUs give their best shot especially in utilizing ICT in good governance. It also promotes good quality of service to become an efficient and effective government unit among its constituents.
